In 1911 we can see an example of discriimination,France's Academy of Sciences refused to grant Curie membership because she was a woman, but this year, she won the the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the discovery of radium and polonium. And as in all things, after a good thing comes a bad one, became as the world war I. With the situation she begun setting up a network of portable and hospital-based x-ray machines to treat wounded soldiers. After 4 years, the peace arrived with Curie's inauguration of the Radium Institute of the University of Paris. Then she visited the United States to raise money for the Radium Institut.
